Conversion and restoration of 1901 terrace house in Dublin. This house typology is a traditional one in many parts of Dublin city with typically 3 bedrooms and two small dark reception rooms, galley kitchen and landing bathroom served by an asymmetrical staircase, small garden. To maximize the house orientation and path of the sun our approach involved turning the brightest room at the south/east street front into the kitchen. We swapped the living space to take full advantage of and access to the garden creating a large open plan living space with defined interconnected areas. The old stairs formerly in an enclosed narrow hall became a dynamic feature of the living space which resulted in the atmosphere of an open London or New York Loft. "This restored redbrick has the edge with a bright contemporary interior and many interesting details." Irish Times "This light filled home is truly a Modern Miss masquerading in Victorian costume."
